They wouldn't stay sealed tightly in my ears, The weight of the earbuds would pull them out of my ears just enough to break the seal and allow sound to escape. Even when they were installed tightly, they didn't block out any external noise.

Hmm. Well, it's possible you just didn't mold them deeply/tightly enough in your ears.
I also can't speak to these as complete noise-canceling headphones, either. My point was that they are sturdy and comfortable for active wearing. So I don't know what your expectations were on that.
